Our next issue of the journal will focus on Carlos Castaneda, his works, life, and anything in-between. As always, we will be accepting scholarship, essays, fiction, poetry, ephemera, sacrificial channeling put to paper, and whatever else you want to send to us that is able to pass the vibe check. From the most prudish to the extremely experimental, just try us out. Castaneda the man never felt constrained by the set boundaries of his time, so if you’re thinking about developing a project that is not quite too focused on his work itself but is tangentially relevant, follow his example and just do it. If it can stand on its own we are more than likely to love it. No deadline on sight, as we are still working on issue 5: Zones, but take note that we are now setting a hard submissions deadline for the Zones issue (September 30th).
The CEO is still taking submissions for Parasol 5 which will be themed on the topic of Zones. The inspiration comes from the Strugatskian, Tarkovskian and Lynchian usage of the term. Writers however should not feel limited to this though the sense of Zone is intended to convey something otherworldly e.g. Ballard and psychoanalysis are both capable of doing this without unambiguous weirdness.
Fiction/theory fiction/poetry/art and straightforward theory are all welcome.
The 3rd issue of our journal Parasol has all its submissions in and is being edited as we speak.
It includes the following papers:
The Mechanical Wizard.
On the Xenopoetics of Alchemical Theater as an Affective Model for Ritual Hyperoccultation.
Aesthetic Study of Blackouts: An Essay on the Subject in Objectivity, Non-human in the Human, and Ghostly Demons.
A Brief History of General Numogramatics.
The Taint is a Liminal Space.
Beheading the transcendental God-Emperor, or A Prolegomena to Weaponized Magickal Thought
Parasol 5: Zones
We are now currently taking submissions for Parasol 5 on the topic of the ‘Zone’. The recent foray into zonetology was brought about by consideration of the Lynchean, Tarkovskean and Strugatskian zone, Ballard too makes common usage of the term. This is the area of zone usages that we are looking at in the issue, though these are not strict restrictions, anything in the same ballpark will be considered.
